I've given up that this would ever happen, but this month's income so far is $4300.00 (few hours left). He-ha! It's been between $3000.00 - $3700.00 for 2 years (usually $3200), and I just couldn't increase it despite adding and adding original articles (total now is 1400 articles). Then about 6 months ago my income dropped to $1800.00... I stopped adding new articles and started a fight against the content thieves (I complained about this is July 2007). It has paid off...

Wow! I've struggling half a year to cross the $500 mark. I hope I'll be as far as you are in one and a half year :D Any general tips apart from 'content is king'? Are you going for long tail? Because I've heard that that's where the volume really is.

Great job.

Congrats!

Where do you place your ads? Are they around the content, or within the content?

I had a milestone month too - just topped $10,000 for October earnings. It's been the best year ever for me, averaging over $5000 per month.

I made about $2000 in October from other sources, but AdSense is definitely the creme de la creme.

It's always good to hear of someone having success fighting the thieves. Do you think this has contributed to your increased AdSense income somehow?

Apauto, I have only 1 site but 4 different page layouts. The one I choose for an article depends on the length of the article, images etc. The page has to look pretty.

Farmboy, yes. Started with Adsense in June 2005. Crossed the $3000.00 mark in Oct 2007, but couldn't get to $4000.00, no matter how hard I worked. By then many people have copied my entire site, usually without making any changes whatsoever. I really don't mind if somebody copies one or two articles, but that's too much… When I hit $1800.00 I found one person who has already copied half of my site on five or six of his sites. That's when I declared war -- it took 2 days to have his sites removed and another 2 weeks to have all the other copy-cat sites removed. Traffic slowly picked up…. According to Alexa my site's traffic rank is now close to 100,000.

Must read: Crossed the $3000.00 mark in Oct 2006, not Oct 2007.

Just wondering...do you use a content management system?

I don't - and I truly believe that contributes to my site's success. What about you?

I can confirm the same. My CTR and eCMP increased after shutting down few websites. Sometime it is easy to get rid of bad guys, but few times it takes lots of time and effort.

No, I don't.

So you create all content using nodepad or dreamweaver html editor? This may be good for small site, but for 300 or more pages you may need to use something else. I will use something written in php or perl. It will save lots of time. There are lots of free cms software out there.

Congrats everyone. We are looking for a record year too with an estimated $150,000 from AdSense for 2008. Seeing no downturn so far.

Well done. I am in business since 2005 and my earnings even fell with respect to Oct 07 - sucks. It is only peanuts compared to your 4000 anyway, but given that my traffic trippled in the past year, I had hoped that earnings would develop accordingly.

Am I right assuming that your 4000 don't come from Google AdSense (at least not exclusively)?

Well done on breaking the 4k barrier. I just checked last months numbers and we are just under $4700 which I think is a record. Then of course we have to convert it to Aussie dollars and it comes out close to $7k right now which is not a bad bonus. We've only become "serious" with adsense in the last year and once we have the traffic established on a site we are always looking for products / services to help spread the risk so to speak.
I can't help but wonder how good it would be if the CTR was at last years levels however...

All $4300+ is from Adsense only and $450 of the total is from one page only. It is the first page where I put Adsense on in June 2005, as a test. If I had put it on any other page I would probably not be posting here today.

Hey congrats on your milestone.

You've just alerted me to something though - I guess I wasn't paying attention in class again, but it looks like someone has been copying my pages, almost without changing a thing.

How does one go about getting this removed? (sorry if this is a bit off topic but it looks as if you folk have some real experience in this area)

The important thing is to have proof that you are the copyright owner. There are many ways to accomplish that. I keep all invoices of purchased articles plus the original articles. If you write an article yourself have it stamped by a Commissioner of Oaths. The Wayback machine can also help.

Then contact the copy-cat (if you can find an address for him or her), give him a few days to remove and if he doesn't then contact his service provider.

Do yourself a favor and study the copyright laws. I had to when somebody infringed the copyright of my company's product. Received $215,000+ in damages, plus monthly royalties for as long they operate. The law is on your side but must know it.

LOL that's so funny. I've just started getting to know AdSense, just placed it on my site and had my first CLICK on Sunday. I guess I have some catching up to do, eh?

Congratulations on hitting your goals, all of you. My first goal is to receive a check!

Wow, I'm impressed. Since 2005, I have built two extensive websites full with useful and unique content; they attract some 1500 visits a day, which will probably increase in the next months to over 2000. I make a fraction of you with google adsense and have thought about other means to commercialise them. I get a feeling that there is something that I do fundamentally wrong.

May I ask how many visitors your attract or what your CTR is?

(CTR is one of the things expressly forbidden to disclose by AdSense TOS)

i make around the same 4.000 as she mentioned, but it comes from a car news blog, that has over 7.000 posts, on wordpress. the blog is 3 years old.

i believe that the more content you have, more you are gonna make with adsense, but the income will not increase according to the traffic.

I have over 3,000 pageviews a day - lesson learnt: Not every topic/website it equally easy to monetize.
