I'm a little unsure about what you are asking. Do you mean "placement" as in where the ad appears on the page? Or placement in the way AdSense refers to targeted ads )targeted to appear on a specific site/page/adblock)? Or...?

Anyhow both on page location and site/page/adblock targeting can increase income in my experience, if those are what you are asking about.

It could push earnings to levels once thought impossible.

Just to clarify, one of the ways ads are targeted to AdSense publisher websites is through placement targeting. Placement targeting allows AdWords advertisers to choose specific ad placements where they would like their ads to appear.

I think we're talking about ads that used to be called "site-targeted CPM ads." Some publishers have done well with them and others haven't, but I'm inclined to think that--on the whole--they're probably most useful as "filler ads" on pages that wouldn't generate significant income from pay-per-click ads (such as photo galleries or forums).

It would would take a fair bit of gigery pokery to set up relevant placement targeting ads on my sites, what i'm asking is whether the demand is there, i assume yes, but asking the question never the less.

question, should i set each invidual ad per 'widget make' or will one ad be sufficient for all 'widget makes'?

Someone can correct me on this if I'm wrong, but unless things have changed, "placement targeting" or "site-targeted CPM ads" are for advertisers to basically select where on your site they want ads to appear and then pay according to a flat amount per 1,000 impressions. For example, you might earn $5, $10, or whatever for every 1,000 ad impressions.

You won't earn pay-per-click income from these ads.

As I understand placement targetting, the advertiser chooses your site and you may get the ads unless you explicitly block them. As far as I can see there is no way to solicit them or to focus their usage on specific pages.

Are you sure about that?
