The more units you place on a page, the higher your CTR per pageview should be. Individual ad units, however, may get a lower CTR when more ads are on a page, simply because there's more for the visitor to click on. Thus, chances of a click are split among the ads, but overall your CTR should go up. Make sure you're using channels properly (avoid overlap in reports).

Depending on the topic of your page, sometimes there may not be enough ads to fill three ad units. So limiting a page to one ad unit may mean better quality ads and more clicks.

sometimes you'll earn more with single ad unit than 3 ad units + 3 link units + search :D

it all depends of site's niche
