I have been tracking my CTR and eCPM for sometime and have noticed that since Friday last, my CTR has increased by around 60% while at the same time the eCPM has dropped by over half!As a result, my total Adsense revenues have fallen by half!

Has someone experienced a similar trend in this past week? I have not made any change at all with my adsense ads in this period.

I am not even able to think of any plausible reason for this sudden drop in eCPM rates!

It was around Friday that mine dropped too. Had a #*$! weekend and this week isn't looking much better either.

From what I heard, websites focusing on US traffic had a bad weekend. But my site totally India-focused.

RealMaverick,
Is your website US-focused?

All my sites are US based, and all are pretty much dead; Friday was my last semi-decent day. Traffic is actually up, everything else is gone.

I haven't noticed anything unusual. (Less than 50% of my traffic comes from the U.S., for what that's worth.)

We're getting into prime vacation, barbecuing, and going-to-the-lake-or-seashore season, so the summer doldrums might be a factor in your case. I certainly wouldn't worry about an eCPM drop of several days' duration. Long-term earnings are what count.

Something's cooking at The Plex.

However, contrary to netmeg and anand84, I seem to have been positively affected. Yet I can not pinpoint it to Friday exactly. I am seeing strong volatility in the eCPM, well, stronger than usual.

Thursday was in this years top 20 for the weakest eCPM, while Sunday was in the top 20 for the strongest eCPM (on a total of 196 samples).

About 30% US traffic, general interest evergreen topics, unique content. Ad traffic absolutely in line with season, no remarkable changes.

Some of my sites are themed around summer activities, and my traffic is actually up. It's the clicks and the eCPM that are tanked.

Actually, I think you would.

Major upswing here.. Yes , something has changed recently at Plex. Never seen such strong numbers..

(getting many clicks worth more than USD 4 per click..unbelievable!)

Mostly US and Australian traffic.

I am sure it won't last..Good times never do ;-)

Interestingly, while my AdSense has tanked, my parked domains are going through the roof. And I'm not even *trying*. Go figure.

Our traffic is 70% US, ecpm has been dropping continuously from July 4th weekend. We are shifting more and more traffic away from Adsense, one reason for this is that their ecpm on lower traffic is better.

Since the 4th of July earnings are down, impressions seem about the same but the ECPM is down a point or two. Maybe the advertisers are backing off over summer? We are down almost $20 per day on last month. Always looking for alternatives as Google finds new and special ways to pull out publishers fingernails. They should be made to declare the revenuse split, it should be law.
