i cannot understand what is happening with adsense. I have stats on my site which also track click on adsense along with general track. It only tracks which user click adsense. before 1 july 2008 every thing was just fine. I have multiple sites running adsense. I was getting almost 20 clicks from my 1 single site.

From 1 july clicks suddenly droped to 2 clicks. At first i thought that there may be some delay in adsense reports. but after 3 days i have only 6 clicks in 3 days. where as my adsense tracker script is saying that there are 14 clicks. I cannot understand why google not counting my huge number of clicks. And this happened suddenly from 1st July.

Another thing also happened from 1st july. Previously i was getting almost 30-40 cents per click on average. and now its only one(1) cent per click.

Should i email to google with proofs that i have clicks and they didnot reward me my money. or do i need to keep quite and see what is happening?

Any suggestion from you guys. Or if any body knows that what is happening on google?

Google does not count all clicks for a good reason... the merchants don't want to pay for all the clicks.

Here are a few examples of clicks which Google will not always count:

  • Two clicks from the same IP
  • Clicks by robots if detectable
  • Clicks by persons known to be abusively clicking
  • Clicks by you

If the number of clicks which are not being counted remains as high as you say, you may well have your account terminated. Google tends to cut the account if fraud is running high and there's little legitimate activity there.

Regarding the reduction in CPC, there are many reasons this can happen. It could be as simple as there being a reduction in highly paying inventory for your terms, or it may be a reflection upon your site and how well it performs for Google's advertisers.

    well....

well my stats says that clicks are from unique persons, no two clicks from single person. And they are also not robot clicks. and ofcourse i didnt do it.

I have noticed that this happened when 1 of my story became hit on reddit. i suddenly got 5 times more traffic. but that was just for 1 day. after that my traffic comes back to normal, but cpc and CTR dropped noticably.

i have also check few of my friends who are running adsense. They had same problem back in November 2007 and still their CTR never rise back to normal.

I had adwords compaign few days back and i noticed that the traffic coming from adwords pays me even $1 per click. So it seems that traffic source is also impotant factor.

    Somhthing wrong in google algorithm.

    chohanz:

I would NOT contact Google on this one. You do not want to wake the sleeping dog, right? And telling them they made a mistake is, um, not a good idea in the firt place. Google makes no mistakes.

Then again, it's interesting that you can pinpoint the changes to July 1st, even if the changes are on a very low level. Others here (including me) have seen reductions appearing July 1st which makes me suspicious. These reductions where not 60 to 80% though.

    =========================================================

Last year at this time I had made (lets say) $57 for the month.

This year for the same time period (lets say) I have made $47 for the month.

It is less, but not terrible.

$57 last year, $47 this year

...is a reduction of 17.5% which is indeed not that terrible. 45% is different, though.
