After adding Links Units, the Ad Units impressions went down

This is weird, I don't think it ever happen before when I try using Link Units.

But this time the ad units impressions drop by more then half. The good thing though is ctr gone of the roof almost 400 percent up I swear lol, So I am guessing Adense is somehow counting the clicks but not the impressions.

My impressions are low too. Aren't you just experiencing updation delay prior to maintenance?

Are you saying that your Page Impression ratio since adding AdLinks is now about 50/50 and that the CTR on your AdLinks has shot up in comparison to before?

50/50 is approximately what I get. Your CTR may have shot up since your users suddenly found a whole load of new relevant advertisers instead of the usual ones they may have been seeing causing an almost ad blindness effect.

My highest paying EPC pages have a leaderboard at both the top and bottom of the page with no AdLinks.

Note, if anyone thinks this is overkill it is on a Coppermine gallery, no choice basically!

Bddmed, the thing is before I didn't have ad links only ads units so is not like a delay,

Husky the thing is that the ctr only shot up on the ad units the ad links actually have a real low ctr rate.

I am just wondering if people after adding the ad links did their ad units impressions went down, that's what I find weird, why would the ad units impressions go down by more then half right after adding the ad links :)

And I am not complaining because is crazy how the ctr is like 4 times as it used to be on the ad units :)

Are you saying that link units aren't being counted as impressions anymore? If true, that's great news!

Don't get your hopes up too high, my link units are still getting counted and tanking my site's eCPM. If only Google listens, link units <> ad units, the payed for click happens on their site not ours!

Thanks Hobbs. I'm in complete agreement with you which is why I'm not using link units. I wish Google would change this.

It's just weird how right after adding link units the ad units impressions went way down even thou I haven't remove them from no where.

man if i had the same ad units impressions that I had before with the ctr I have now I be a rich man :)

Do you mean page impressions are too low for ad units -hence too high ad unit CTR- but normal for link units, even when they are both on the same page?

Are others experiencing this? If so, perhaps there is a reporting bug.

In your AdSense account, you may look at:

Reports -> Advanced Reports -> Choose Units (Ad Units, Link Units, Combined)

Here is a better illustration of what happen

In June 11 my whole site didn't have Links Units so lets say
I had 50 impressions daily of Ad Units.

Now In June 11 I added Links Units on the same pages as the Ad Units without removing the Ad Units.

Now here how impressions divides
30 impressions for Links Units
20 Impressions for Ad Units

You can see like somehow for what ever reason I'm still getting 50 impressions total, when I was expecting this.
50 impressions for Links Units
50 Impressions for Ad Units

It's weird I tell you, the great thing though is that since the ctr for Ad Units has quadruple the eCPM has gone way up on the Ad Units, So I am actually earning more then before like 20% more, I just dreaming if I could get the same Ads Units impressions with the new ctr, lol then I be a rich man :)

Sorry, misunderstood what you were talking about here (Hobbs and me are talking about something else). We don't like that Google counts Link Units as impressions, because really, they're just leads. Why does Google weigh them the same as Ad Units when the business end is on their servers?
