2nd website - impact on 1st?

I have a site on widgets. The Red Widgets section is small, gets low traffic, but makes way more per click than the other sections (many advertisers with $$ apparently). So I want to start a new site for only Red Widgets. (I think a new separate site will do better SEO-wise)

I can't have 2 Adsense accounts (correct?) so 2 questions:

1 - Do I just add the 2nd site's URL channels to the current list of URL channels, and then manually check off the ones I want for reports (I'd like to have separate reports for each site)?

2 - If the 2nd site doesn't do well, will it hurt the 1st site's earnings?

Thanks!

Yes to the first question, and possibly to the second, although I haven't seen it myself.

I asked the same two months ago. I was told it doesn't have any effect... but currently I'm testing it... it seems to me it does...

My earnings seem to be affected by adding a low performance site. Some post here recommend to remove the ads from low performance pages, so I guess the same applies here.

In fact I will remove the ads from this site (b) at the end of the month... is not performing well. It has pretty good traffic, it seems academic stuff doesn't work too well.

I have a similar situation. Yes, just make a new channel(s) for the new site (this is what I did).

My 2nd site is doing well and doesn't seem to have impacted the 1st site (even though I link to/advertise it from the first).

I figure if 2nd site takes away too much from first, I can always remove the links or even move all the pages from new site back to the old and merge them if I need to.
So far I haven't see any indication that the new site has made anything on the old site change (other than some traffic going from old to new, and converting to higher paid clicks)

i think making decision for site or account based on another site or account (same ip) is totally not logical...in the part of google....
this is just like punishing father for his child wrong doing...

any way if legal things might have come it would have been better ..but actually we have found may be google make decision based on site...in our office many people have google account....with main account of the office....every body is under same public ip...accessing the internet but we have not heard of any bans for so....up to now...

but personally i think it is not right...otherwise the offices should ban user from accessing their adsense in office...which i think it not possible or legally right...
personal thoughts

There is no relationship between one domain and another on AdSense earnings.

I think there is a relationship and a direct one. From what I know, smart pricing is at account level and will affect all domains within an account, both new and old. If this is true, technically (and maybe practically) the addition of a new site could lead to the entire account being smart-priced. On the other hand it may just save the account from being smart-priced.

If the 2nd site doesn't do well, will it hurt the 1st site's earnings?

That seems to be a pessimistic perspective.

Instead, why not ask, "If the 2nd site does very well, will it help the 1st site's earnings?"

I concur, I have many sites and they all vary for whatever reasons SmartPricing deems, even those running similar subjects have crazy highs and lows.

FarmBoy - I like your attitude!

One other question - it looks like the URL channels are limited to 200, regardless of the number of sites - that right? Any workarounds?

ecmedia, I tend to disagree. When I get smartpriced, it seems to effect my whole adsense account.
