If you've only been going a month, you shouldn't be worrying about earnings. Worry about building your traffic and your content.

I've never paid for advertising. People come to my site because it has unique content. They link to it. The search engines pick it up....

If you can't pay for it, building traffic takes time. You have to be patient. One thing you can do is make sure if you post in forums that allow it (not this one) include your blog in your signature. I don't mean spam forums, but if you are posting naturally, then just put the link in - you don't need to call attention to it particularly; if what you are saying is interesting and relevant, people will click on your link out of curiousity about who you are.

Contrary to many people's ideas, AdSense is not necessarily an immediate road to riches. It takes a lot of work and time.
