The number of impressions for any given page, using the URL channel, is always much lower than what my stats report for that day. The Adsense explanation for the discrepancy (that some people have javascript turned off so the ads arent showing) seems kind of strange.
Are the Adsense impressions based on anything besides traffic, like length of time on page, whether the traffic is coming from a Google search, etc?

AFAIK, the page impressions are based on, er, page impressions. It does not matter whether it is just a quick glance at the page, or a longer visit.

...but seems to be correct, for once.
It does not just apply to humans who have turned off Javascript in their browsers! Robots and scrapers (usually) do not request the Adsense ads as they do not look at Javascript content. But these bots trigger page requests in your log file! If you take a closer look at who really visits your site, you'd probably be surprised (incredibill, one of the mods at WebmasterWorld, will be able to tell some shocking stories on this).
