You know how it can display up to 4 different ad's within the skyscraper format?

I was wondering if there was a way to limit it to show only 1 ad in the skyscraper?

Image ads only show 1 ad.

No. If you've seen text ads with only one ad it's because a placement ad was selected for that ad space or that publisher's site. It's essentially the equivalent of an image ad taking up all the real-estate but instead it's text-based.

CentennialEmpire mentions that 1 text ad can appear in a skyscraper if the ad is placement-targeted. Please note that keyword-targeted text ads may also expand to fill an ad unit if we determine that a larger ad will perform better for a particular page.
