Soccer EM 2008 compared to WM 2006

For luck, no effect of the EM

2006 in June, I thought to head for a new record, but only until the soccer world chamionsip started. Much less visitors.

I assume the soccer WM had an $1000 effect on my AdSense income.

Now the European championship seems to have no visible effect.

What's the experience of other publishers in Europe, special the German area?

Here in Asia we are not affected by the football (not soccer) so much as it is on so late even during the weekends which is strange.

If there were to be any effect it would start in the next round when the games are more exciting.

With none of the UK teams in the tournament it sees to be very low-key at the moment even though the matches are being shown on TV.

In fact I have not heard one result or comment by anyone. I guess they're all watching the cricket/tennis/F1/MotoGP or something else!

Wait for the Olympics then I reckon we'll see some strange swings.

There had been no effect from the olympic winter games 2006

The German area is much with wintersports.

I did expect a huge dip in visitors during the world championship 2006 (my site is hosted in Germany, where also the w.c. 2006 took place).
But surprisingly during the single matches the visitor count was only slightly below the average, before and after a game it was above.

The same seems to apply for the EURO 2008: During Germany's match yesterday there was a small dip which got evened out with two small peaks before and after.

For me, fuctuations due to good/bad weather are much greater. YMMV - It depends, like always, on the individual site's topic.

During WK 2006 I put up one page about it on my site. Now it's ranking first page in Google for it's related keyword. So, now I'm feeling (somewhat) obliged to report about the event as the number of visitors is enormous :).
