My account is currently in my name. However, about a year after I set up my account, I incorporated my web business so technically it should say "myname, inc."...

Any way I can change this?

I did that too, but I just left myself as the payee. I think you have to start a new account to change the payee. I'm not positive though, so you should probably check.

That's what I've done so far but I'm wondering if that's a bad idea.
So far bank takes it into business account fine even though it's in my name... and taxes have been OK but i'm wondering if it could be a potential problem.

My accountant didn't think it would be, when we were setting up the corporation, for what it's worth.

Your accountant didn't think it would be an issue to have income reported under your SSN instead of the corporation's tax id?!

Oh, well, I guess if it's an S-Corp and you're the only shareholder, it may not matter that much. But if it's a C-Corp or you wanted to add shareholders in the future...

Doesn't Google allow you to change your tax ID?

You have to write to Google to request they change the payee name. You can change the tax ID yourself on the W-9 form. If you incorporated, then you have a new tax ID, and it should match the payee name, which matches the bank account, or you will end up with problems.

I would write to Google about changing it. One of the reasons to incorporate is to protect yourself from liability issues, and if checks are going to you personlly, that might be an problem should you find yourself in any kind of legal situation.

I've tried changing from a personal to a business account and was told to delete/then reapply to the program.

I'll write to them to see what they say. I'm scared of getting rid of my current account though!

I changed my tax id number and bank account; I didn't bother changing the payee name. My bank account has both my company name *and* my name on it, so it shouldn't matter.

Intersting, but I'm on the other side. Account is in a corporate name(S) but I am moving to another state soon. I was going to change the account into my personal name..maybe not now?

Nutmeg, that's true, I never thought of that! My name is on the bank along w/ company name so it should be fine... I can't remember if I changed it to my EIN or not but I'll go do that now.
