I hope I don't bore anyone with this somewhat rudimentary question. If I do I apologize in advance. I am a beginning webmaster and recently completed my first site. It is a link site for teachers with 52 pages. The site has been completed for about 2 months, I have SEOed it to the best of my abilities, and I am seeing almost no visitors. Is this normal? I guess I am just wondering how long it took some of you successful AdSense entrepreneurs to get up and running on your first AdSense site. Thanks.

My first site was created years before Adsense or even Google existed. If I create a new site that can take a few months and sometimes up to a year. I always make sure it has some inbound links from my other sites. That gives me a few page views a day, enough to have some clicks at the end of the week.

"successful AdSense entrepreneurs..."

"your first AdSense site..."

It had to happen I suppose.

"your first AdSense site"

Your first step is to stop thinking of your website (or potential website) as an "adsense" site.

Try building a website that has its own purpose *without* adsense.

Build something that is useful for your visitors or something that is unique. Something that fills a need (besides your need to put ads somewhere).

That kind of site can take days, weeks or months to build depending on your abilities.

I'm not sure what you mean by "it is a link site" If it's just a website with a bunch of links, then search engines won't really be sending people your way. What you need is actual content. Since you're aiming at teachers, there are many issues you could focus on. Once you have useful content, then see if you can get other teacher sites to link to yours as a way to help build traffic.

It is a link site for teachers with 52 pages.

Do each of those 52 pages focus on a specific topic or does each page have content that addresses a variety of topics?

I always tell people I have a couple Adsense sites but I always get weird looks. Then I remember some people still them call "websites". C'mon people, get with the times!
