I have read its possible to get Adsense to open a new window rather than replacing my window when someone clicks on a ad.

I guess I need to change something here:

src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">

Could somebody please tell me what I need to do?

Thank you

It is against the terms to open the link in a new window (unless you are a premium publisher), as well as to make any changes to the AdSense javascript.

hmmm, my site uses frames, and the ads open in the main frame, it looks a bit weird and a bit small.

Thank you

You probably should raise your concern directly with AdSense support. It seems like it would be an easy fix from their end to break out of the frames.

(That is, if they have any interest in doing so....)

Are you using the framed page checkbox when you render the code? If not, that could be part of the problem why it is opening up the advertisers inside your frame.

Jenstar is right. You need to tick the "Ad will be placed on a framed page" checkbox when you generate your Adpanel code on the Ad Settings page, to allow the ads to escape the frameset.

I do have the framed page checkbox checked.

I asked a friend the check that for me as I didn't want to get kicked off adsense the week I started, so I can't personally test it.

He tells me that it opened in teh same page.

Is there a way for me to try it without getting kicked off adsense?

Yes, you can click on "Ads by Goooooooogle".

<added>Oh I see, no that won't work - that will just open up a new window by default.</added>
