Lets say i get 5 million page views per day on my website about "curly dooley whoppers" but there just really are precious few ads even indirectly related to my content.

What if i devote a column to "Comparing Widget Prices" and have a short paragraph about the wisdom and ease of comparing widget prices online, and i follow that paragraph with a Adsense unit.

From a tech standpoint, how do i make Adsense target this portion of the page content instead of the remaining 75% - 80% and if i do that, will Google frown on it?

Thanks for your insight.

I don't know what 5 million daily page views has to do with your targeting question but if you had even 1 million daily page views, you'd be in the Premium program which has different rules.

AdSense serves the highest paying ads available that complement the page content so if the content of that column draws higher paying ads than the rest of your content, you'll presumably get ads related to the column content. If not, you won't.

But if people find the page (through Google or YAhoo or whatever) and are looking for info on curly whoopdie loops and there's an ad for blue widgets you won't have any clicks on ads for blue widgets.

thanks guys, we currently serve text ads that are of our choosing from another ad network and we have clicks although ctr is only about .4% since the ads are not targeted --- but good point RonS
