url channel confused

hi
i have multiple websites and am still fairly new to adsense, when i set up the account i typed a url and then created ads for all sites.
how come i have been earning for the url as well as the ad, is that some kind of bonus?
Today i decided to sit down and look to learn more and optimise better so i then created a new url channel and then create new ads for this site, how come i am earning for this url channel also, its not actually an ad?

You've gotten confused by the reporting. Your URL channel is reporting your earnings for all ADS showing on that URL. Your aggregate earnings are not affected.

when i click on top channels it shows url channels and channels. is url channel ment to be the total of url ads?

URL channel is the total for all ads showing on that URL.

Other channels are set up with code in each adblock.

It's possible to have overlapping channels, which gets even more confusing.
