Too low adsense impressions for Tuesday, March 25, 2008

I think I do not have all adsense impressions counted

Hi

Starting Tuesday, March 25, 2008, when the problem with generating stats started for a period of about 12 hours, I think, since then, adsense is not counting all impressions correct.

While webalizer does not show any significant traffic movement, adsense impressions are way down, and interesting, especially for those pages with old adsense code. for pages with the new code, everything seems ok.

Was there a notice by google to change all codes? Does anyone have the same observation?

Anyway, I start changing the codes now, I am not sure if this will mess around my channels. I will keep you posted.

Tuesday's netrics for me were a total mess, totally way outside of my norms.

Whatever they are playing about with right now they simply do not care one iota the short-term grief they are creating for publishers, & webmasters for that matter!

Every few months I have to come here and complain about these screw-ups, all they do is create more and more antagonism amongst the posters.

This will bite them extremely hard if they are not more pro-active.

I'd like to hear from more publishers on this. Tuesday is always my best day, without exception -- and my stats were waaaay off, too.

Impressions are a little off here as well.

What I have done:
I created 2 new ad channels and combined them at the ad generation.

I had it running overnight, but in the morning there was no single impression for the channels, although I know, there where impressions and the ads are shown with relevant ads.

Or this last issue might be my fault, is it not possible to have 2 channels in the same ad and then see this ad's impression looking at the channel report?

... and what is also odd, not exacly related to this problem, is the visual change of the add:
sometimes the same add shows a thin border-line, sometimes it shows a thick border-line, it changes on random.

My Tuesday impressions were normal. Tuesday is also my best traffic day.

I have now changed the ads again, only using 1 channel per ad (although it says: "Choose up to five custom channels to track the performance of this ad unit."). Even after a few minutes, I already have ad impressions and clicks showing for the new channels, while the combined ad unit did not show a single impression overnight (although there were thousands).

The weird thing is, only one part of one of my sites is experiencing this issue, it looks like a significant traffic drop, but on my server logs, I cannot see any indication of such a drop. However, this part of the site is still using old adsence code and it started to happen at the exact time when the reports couldn't be generated to nights ago.

Same here. And a totally normal day yesterday.

Something that I noticed this morning [thursday] was my grand totals showed x amount of impressions, one click but zero payments.
Yet when I looked at the channels, it said 1 click and 12c.
I have never noticed this before. It could be related to same problem.

I see that all the time, Lame_Wolf - they just don't always update everything (impressions, clicks, revenue) at the same time.

I dunno, as far as impressions, I'm up across the board on all sites all this week.

HP, Google must have sent some of your clicks to me--Tuesday was the best day of the month for me for earnings, totally average for impressions.

So, whatever this problem is, it doesn't affect everyone....

Yep, I don't doubt that however it always seems to be when G are having server issues (or are upgrading whatever it is they do) that I get walloped for seemingly no reason whatsoever!

For instance today, is there a lag in the stats or am I having my worst-ever CTR?

If it continues like this then today's earnings will be about 30% of the daily average for March and up until now my earnings have not fluctuated from the average more than +/-15%...a 70% drop...now no one need to try and convince me that is normal!

Click audit? I had one day last month that was way below normal (less than 50%) and the next day was way over normal. Averaged together, those two days were average...

Click audit?

We'll see tomorrow morning however I really hate it when AdSense starts jumping about like this when I've had a pretty stable period of 3 months, it makes me wonder what on earth will be the next major glitch some of us will get hit...and then there'll be those who never see any of these things happening...quite bizarre really.

Hi Nutmeg,
Yes, I do see it often where they do not add up, but not where I had a click and nothing for it.

This I hear, happens if someone from your PC or the same network has clicked on an advert. This wasn't the case.

I've had it the other way round where the grand totals showed something and the channels did not, but not where a channel showed a figure and the grand totals showed zero.
Still, it is working and figures ended about 10% down on "normal" earnings for the day.
