I think the question is, why should Google give this facility to anybody? Talk about disguising the ads to the extent that people don't even realize it's an ad!

If it's not good for the advertisers on sites belonging to non-premium publishers, I don't see how it's suddenly good for advertisers on the sites of premium publishers.

Yup..

I also don't really accept these special ad formats for premium publishers.

Seems to be penalizing non-premium publishers.

And I can't really believe that a general news site ( with maybe millions of PV's) can offer better conversions. They may offer more clicks but if conversions is a factor.. I am sure they will not be up to the mark. The audience is just not targetted enough. And the ads..just 'encourage' clicking by being TOO WELL BLENDED.

Same here. In fact, since google changed the rules on where to click, I refuse to click on any premium publishers advert.

It is all about traffic; get 20 million page views / 5 million search queries per month and you can have the same ad format. Also note that big websites may have deal with google for minimum payout.

Well, the bit about traffic only tells us what qualifies a publisher for this type of ad.

The question is, what makes it a good thing? It's nice for the publisher, sure, but I can't imagine it's good for the advertisers -- they must get a lot of untargeted traffic from clicks that they're paying good money for.

How do you know it is untargeted traffic? You may be aware many advertisers only targets large media sites only. They skips most normal publishers like you and me.
