The exchange rate was not wildly different, but the bigger the amount changed the bigger the difference.
I have noted that there is no option in EFT to choose between local currency or US$.
Now EFT is being added (slowly) to more countries how do the exchange rates look?
Would you prefer the option of choosing between local or US$ currency for an EFT?
Nearly all of the adsense ads on my sites are from European Advertisers paying in Euro or GBP.
The conversion into USD is unnecessary in the first place.
We should be given the option of creating an Adsense account in our own currency, that way we will not have to watch the balance shrinking while we wait to be paid.

I totally agree.
But as long as the USD is in a free fall Google makes some nice extra profit from these conversions.
Maybe they have already plans for foreign currency accounts but wait rolling them out until the USD swings back upwards ;-)
sorry, completely missed your question!
For me (in Germany) the money via EFT takes about three days to reach my bank account and was converted with the exchange rate of the day it left Google. So that's no big difference.
I would never choose USD for EFT as this would mean getting involved in foreign currency trading (Dollar still falling? Don't touch the money today, wait for better times... Dollar's up? Don't touch the money today, maybe tomorrow it's even better...).
I rather prefer money being ready to get carried into shops.
If I wished to gamble with the buck, I could still convert it back to USD the day it hits my bank account.
