I've noticed a trend with programs that edit the hosts file and block the adsense domains by redirecting it to localhost, causing adsense ads never to show up to the users who have done this.
Is there an alternate domain you can use in the javascript to prevent this?

Not the programs I use. I picked up a nasty spyware a few years ago that did that but I shot it on sight.
What programs are you talking about digitalv?

Nope. No alternate domain. Even if there was, it would be on the ad blocker's list just like googlesyndication.com.
The only way I see they can get around that aspect of ad blocking software is to let us run an API on our own sites.

Umm... modifying a hosts file isn't the same as ad blocking stuff. We're not talking about browser add-ons here. If you've got something writing to your hosts file you need to identify what it is and either make sure it's very friendly or block it completely.

I don't have anything blocking MY hosts file, but I've seen some kind of Ad Blocker program (can't remember the name) that advertises it blocks 99% of web ads or some crap like that. The way it does this is by modifying the hosts file so google, doubleclick, etc. (all of the major ad servers) domains are re-rerouted by the hosts file and therefore the ads don't show up.
