I'm curious to know what others consider a decent amount of pay per click?

I have had clicks from under 10 cents up to about $1.50 so far. My site is new and growing but my traffic is still relatively low.

Back to the original topic...

When I started a few years back my AdSense average was about $0.16 which has gradually increased to $0.27. I see clicks anywhere from $0.01 to $5 and then some. While the really high paying clicks are a bit rare for my site the overall payout per click has definitely increased.

I think a couple of major factors involved was:

a) fine tuning my SEO to attract better targeted visitors which translates into better ROI for the advertiser and

b) when AdSense started cracking down on arbitrage which reduced the amount of real estate available for the existing advertisers so they had to start outbidding each other just to get onto my site

c) a few competitors got whacked, more for me ;)

Thursday afternoon is usually when I spend a little time ruining the week for a thief or two.

I have decided Monday is the perfect time to give someone a bad case of the Monday's.

Can you clarify this question for me? I really hope you're not saying you aren't aware of what is and what isn't your content.

I read their question to mean, I know its my content but how can I prove it?

Atomic - I would think that you know what I am talking about. If you find your content on another site, who do you complain to and how do you prove to the "third party" whose content it is? I know my content, I have my content but the "third party" does not know what I have done. Myself, I think anyone that is able to get a site up and running and participates in these forums is smarter than the average person. But that is my opinion.

I would think that you know what I am talking about.

I'm sorry. It was the way you worded it that led to my request for clarification. I wasn't quite sure what you meant.

I recently ran into a situation where a blog had stolen some of my content and there was no way to contact the owners of the site. The blog's timestamp indicated the content had been posted fairly recently.

I did a whois and found that the owners of the blog service and contacted them. My site is fairly old and well known so in this case there was no request to prove ownership of the content. Had that come up I suppose I could have directed the blog service owner to the Internet Archive which has proof my content is several years old.

Now, I am only talking about my content. If I suspected a site was stealing someone elses content I might just contact the owner of the content and let them prove it. I don't see protecting someone elses content as my my fight but I am more than happy to point out theft to someone that's been ripped off.

Thank you for the information. Some of us newer people are so overwhelmed by the process of getting a site up and just keeping it going let alone trying to make it grow that we don't know about all of these hidden pitfalls. I guess that is why we are all here reading, to learn from each other not matter what your expierence level is. Thanks again.

I used to make ridiculous amounts of money off 2-cent clicks.

I was the Wal-Mart of my sector. Low prices + extreme sales.

My two cents,
