Message Too Old, No Replies

I lost my distributor and all of my pages say 'product not available'

But I still have good content.

I was rewriting the content to offer more of a sale pitch. I don't know how long it will be before I find another merchant or distributor.

I've uploaded some of the 'sale pitch' content and I would like to leave it there.

Would the temporary unavailability of the merchandise be considered encouraging clicks by Adsense?

Then for the time being, replace with affiliate merchants, including Amazon who carry just about everything under the sun, either directly or through their marketplace.

That's what I'm thinking too.

But out of curiosity...

Do you think it would be considered encouraging clicks if there's no product available? And do you think the change in content (to more of a sales pitch) would affect Google's perception?

That's what I would consider it. What else is being offered as an option, if there's a sales pitch?

I can't speak for Google, that it sure would affect my perception if there's nothing on the page but a sales pitch and Adsense. I saw just such a scenario with a site just this week that had some small 125x125 affiliate banners tucked away in a right column, but had huge, descriptive sales pitches and big product photos (taken from merchants' sites and violating copyright) on pages with nothing but Adsense under them.

The danger I can foresee is catching some other publisher who's having a bad hair day and finds your page and thinks your pages are deceptive, violating TOS, and/or providing a poor user experience, and reports the site to Google as such.

There's a difference between product sales pages pitching for sales, and information pages with Adsense and/or affiliate text links. Basically, it's a sales copy vs. content issue and there is a difference.

Logically I fail to understand why you're uploading a sales pitch if there's no product. There could also be a problem if you have a lack of outbound links.

As Marcia says, link to Amazon. Or how about this: try adding a NON-sponsored link to a leading supplier/manufacturer for the time being.

Say what?

Your pitch is that you were once an ecommerce site but now you are temporarily displaying adsense ads but will soon be selling products again?

Maybe I misunderstand, and I apologise if so, but I wouldn't buy it.

That sounds like a solid approach to me.

Not really

once an ecommerce site
but an apology to visitors that we do not have a supplier for the time being. I have no doubt that I will find another but I don't know if it will be a week or a month. My guess it will be sooner than later but that doesn't matter in the context of this conversation.

but I wouldn't buy it.

Do you mean you wouldn't buy it if you were Adsense?
