I have been reading about Dating affiliates . . .

I am interested to hear feedback on running adsense vs. an affiliate program

A good content site can do well with AdSense and affiliate programs, at least in certain categories. There's no need to choose between one and the other.

I run Adsense on a few sites that market affiliate programs (that also have content). I never saw a dip in sales when I added Adsense. It seems more like people who couldn't find what they were looking for went elsewhere by clicking Adsense. Which they would do anyway if I didn't have it on the site, so I'll take my money for the referral ;). But, I also don't have it [Adsense] as the "focus" either.

I would say give both a try. If people find what they want at your site, you'll make some dough from the affiliate sale (more than you would from an Adsense click), and if they want to keep looking and go elsewhere, they'll probably click on an ad to get there.
