Is there a way to embed the search resaults for the google search box. What i mean... to create a page in which you choose the keyword?

That's against the rules, and it could get you kicked out of the program.

Is it unacceptable for me to go to Google, search for "widgets" and then put a link to the URL so that my readers do not have to do the search themselves but can see other content right away?

Why not simply read the Terms & Conditions and Program Policies? And if you need clarification, why not ask AdSense Support? "Somebody on a forum thought it was OK" won't carry much weight with Google if you get caught doing something that Google doesn't think is OK.

Actually, Google Custom Search may have the flexibility you're looking for.

There's nothing wrong with linking to Google search results. But this is an AdSense forum ... and linking to Google search results won't generate any AdSense clicks for you.

thats what i was thinking jomaxx, i was playing with the custom search and was thinking of having my own ad bar as so to speak with my own relevant keywords down the side of the page that would link to my custom search page.
