Adsense slowing my site.

My site has become very slow to load last two months...

The index and main pages of my site that normally load very quickly are having a hard time loading and Google is saying it's on my server end and my host is saying it's not but in the meantime it keeps reoccurring and it actually took several minutes for the home page to load today. It keeps says waiting for pagead2.googlesyndication.com and then comes up with a gateway error or then finally loads halfway. It works normally a good portion of the time but this issue seems to be increasing in frequency and my numbers are reflecting it - although google says it looks fine whenever they check it. I have googled the issue and found similar complaints lately.

Yea, I've seen that happening on some sites before as well...one way to STOP it from doing that is to show text only ads...that'll stop that.

Yeah, I did that already - switched the google banner ad to cj but it's still doing it. I think it's something to do with the page2ad server b/c page1ad always seems to load fast...it's just been happening since middle of November

When Google support says the problem "is on your server", what they really mean is, the problem isn't on their end, and could be literally anywhere else.

An important question: Is this just your experience, or does everyone who looks at your site see the same slowdown?

I would guess it's just you, because we're not seeing a similar problem, and because of the way you've narrowed the problem down to pagead2 and not pagead1, it sounds like a DNS resolution problem, which takes place at the client end (the web site end user) and has nothing to do with your web server or anything related to it (like your webserver's backbone access, etc.)

The first thing I would do is open a command window on the same machine you're seeing the slowness and try pinging pagead2.googlesyndication.com.

Because adsense loads once the page is loaded, any other slowdown on your page will be blocking adsense. It may look like adsense is the culprit, but it could be anything else. If you're using any widget or items on your page that load from third party sites, check them as the likely suspect.
