I am looking into today's stats and one channel of a new website is showing 5 clicks but $0 earnings while another channel has 1 click and $0.60.

It is the first time I ever see 5 clicks with $0 does it happen frequently?

If its site based targeting then it could well be - plus the clicks could be from the same person and some tracking system that google uses has detected this and only paid you for one of the clicks or maybe none (who knows what logic systems google use..)

I dont believe that the click count and earnings are entirely in sync. Today I have one channel reporting 4 clicks and $10. I suspect this will even out as the day progresses. My pages do not usually earn $2.50/click. 1/10th would be fine with me.

There are several possibilities that could explain this.
1. They paid you nothing for the clicks. Doubtful since they give you a percentage share (something around 78%) and so their percent would also be zero
2. Their clicks and earnings count are not in sync as previously mentioned earlier, in which case you should see it stabilize later in the day.
3. There is some glitch at AdSense. This certainly does happen from time to time and you can find quite a few posts here filled with unsatisfied AdSense users who are convinced that AdSense is scamming them. The obvious truth is that AdSense pays better than anyone else out there so if they are scamming anyone it is the advertisers.
4. They are making some adjustment to your account for a previous overpayment. I don't know if they do this but it would make sense that if you somehow received overpayment on a previous day then they could reduce your current earnings to adjust for this.
5. Smart Pricing is kicking you in the nuts. I can't imagine smart pricing reducing your take to zero, but it's worth listing. Maybe all your clicks came from one person and Adsense has detected what it suspects is click fraud and is therefore not going to pay you for them.

Just my guesses really...
