I wish things were more stable. I moved an adsense block yesterday and today I checked my stats to find I was earning 4x more on that block.
Who knows how long it will last or why this it's earning so much in this new position.
Sometimes I'm earning 20 cents a click and other days I earn 1 cent a click. I just can't seem to rely on Google these days.

It could be just anecdotal experience.
I didn't log in to AdSense and check my stats for about 5 days recently. When I did go back, I found that I had been earning some of the highest EPC ever.
Just coincidence I'm sure. I don't think Google missed me and was flirting with me to visit more often.
About the only thing you can be certain of with AdSense is uncertainty.

HMMMMM, there may be even some truth in this. have you noticed that google sometimes shows how many times you have logged into your account.
Why is this do you think?
May be adsense thinks that good webmasters just worry about building a good site not to check earnings every one minute?

Hello... Renaming your channel has been what I have been talking about for a few weeks now...

If you rename the channel it changes the way that the algo. looks at your ads. It may not last long, but it does change the amount you are paid for the clicks.
Are we sure about this? If you have had a channel that runs for a year, the numbers average out. If you start a new channel on the same ad format, same pages, same colours then the initial figures may show a massive variance from the average annual figures.
If I now move the ads from left to right column and give them a new channel name I will earn around 5x more for around few days to a week, then it goes back to lower payments again.
Let's assume for a moment that this is an absolute certainty for every publisher.
When considering the time involved in changing each channel name and in considering the opportunity cost, how much would "X" need to be to justify the effort?
FWIW, I have AdSense on some sites where I haven't changed a thing (AdSense related) in over a year. On average, the difference between the AdSense performance on my changed vs. my non-changed sites is minor.
If you're not careful, thinking you've discovered a secret to making more money with AdSense can be about as productive over time as thinking you're the one person in the world who knows whether the ball on a roulette wheel will land on red or black.
