Wow... best day in many months today... Thursday, November 29, 2007 ... seems that the buying season has finally started for people buying ads.

Hi
My best day ever was yesterday. I hope it keeps going on like this.

Different topics, different patterns: I've got a travel site, and late November through most of December has been my slowest season, in terms of traffic and earnings, for the past 10 years. I can hardly wait for January 1, when I invariably see an explosive (and a welcome) beginning to the spring and summer travel-planning season.

I thought that the holidays were a heavy travel time? Why are you not hooking into that?

I won't really know until after Dec. 25th. I don't feel it will be as good as last year.

The whole US economy in 2007 really sucked. We all hope for a better 2008.

People may be going on trips (especially to visit their families), but they aren't planning leisure travel, by and large, during the holiday season. They'll go back to researching travel information, clicking on ads, booking hotel rooms, etc. after they've eaten the Christmas turkey or goose and polished off the New Year's Champagne.

Don't count on it. Retailers are just beginning to report November sales, and they seem to be invariably disappointing and below expectations. Several economists are now predicting a recession in the U.S. in 2008 - two consecutive quarters of negative growth. Most others anticipate very low growth at best. A lot of consumers are in away over their heads financially, and it is going to take a couple of years before they recover to a point where they start spending again.

It's hard to predict in advance exactly how a troubled economy will impact upon AdSense publishers, but don't expect the impact to be positive.
