I made a website 2 weeks ago and the subject is basicly gamers.
The website is not in google yet but since 3 days ago im recieving +/-8000 page hits a day! Im very thrilled about this and i started wondering how the website will be after a few months and when its in google. Im guesing that about 15.000 hits a day can be expected?
Anyway, this made me wonder about advertisers. Currently im running adsense just for the kick of seeing some money coming in. But seeing im getting so many hits i seriously am considering to open the website up for advertisers once it realy gets popular. Now to my question! How much visitors does a website need before it gets interesting for advertisers?
Thank you for reading :)

Thanks for your reply.
Im not sure what scrapers are but i can assure you these are real visitors. I have done my best to promote my website trough various other gaming websites. I also just checked google and im listed since today! No visitors coming from google yet though seeing my im somewhere between page 6 / 7 on google for my targetted keywords.
Basicly on my website you can win a gameserver. I used a very smart tactic to attract as many visitors as possible and its seems to be working very well! Because of the fact im providing free gameservers for the gaming community i found it easy for other gaming sites to post up a article about me and a link to me. Anyway, to get back on topic. They are indeed real visitors (or perhaps you need to explain to me what scrapers are so i can answer more specificlly)
I have not been contacted by anyone concerning advertisements. But my real question was how many visitors a website needs to get noticed by advertisers?
Thanks again for reading!

I may be different than most, but I normally find when you start ranking for terms that others are going after, well advertisers want to be on that site/page. Like I say, it normally isn't a matter of # of visitors, it's a matter of ranking for the same terms as the advertisers are going after. This only applies to direct advertising and there are other ways to monetize based upon # visitors. Of course huge sites that get a lot of eyeballs can sell advertising even though it's off-topic simply because of the demographics (look at CNN and other media sites).

Now to my question! How much visitors does a website need before it gets interesting for advertisers?
1. It's PPC advertising
2. The advertisements are provided to you by Google, not by the advertisers
It doesn't matter if you have 10 visitors or 10,000 visitors, if some of those visitors are potential customers for the advertiser, the advertiser is interested.
FarmBoy
It's always a question of figuring out what products your visitors would like to buy, then getting matching advertisers.
Maybe i should adjust my question.
When does it get interesting for companies that have gamers as there target group to advertise on my website? I think then it's a matter of how many visitors my website has seeing im not focusing my website on any specific product.
I hope you see my point.
Patrick
Many companies offer affiliate programmes which mean you get paid per commission. If you believe you have traffic which converts, join some programmes, put up those ads, and see how many sales your visitors generate.
Well matched affiliate programmes pay much better than paid advertising in almost all cases.
However im not sure people would leave my website fast due to the nature of the winning scheme. I have people who stay on my website for over 5, 10 hours because they dont wanna miss the chance to win.
So the chance people leaving the site to check out affiliate programs is small in my opinion. However. Trying never hurts and i will probably give it a try!
Anyway. Dont mind me asking again but. If i do choose to go for advertisers how many visitors do i need before it gets interesting?
Seems it's a question nobody wants to answer :D
Even if i dont go for advertisers i am still interested in learning how many visitors a site needs for it to be interesting for advertisers. Im sure someone can give me a broad figure!
"If i do choose to go for advertisers how many visitors do i need before it gets interesting for advertisers?"
Also, people will have no problem leaving my website after the gameserver has been won for that day. I dident think about that myself before i said affiliate programs wouldent work.. Sorry should have been more clear about that.
Not that i dont apriciate the great feedback im getting but please someone answer my question :-)
EDIT!
Sorry did not see the reply from FarmBoy. I gues my questions was answered afterall.
However it brings me to a new question. If i only have 5 visitors a day but advertisers are interested is it correct to assume the price i would for there ads would be far less then when i would have 20k visitors?

I'm getting the impression that you're not really looking at the adsense model and looking more at running advertising yourself.
I think the reason that you're not getting a definitive answer is that there are so many variables that potential advertisers look at. Two being quality of your traffic, and the second your pricing. And in your case I see another factor that will be playing into things, your websites been up for 3 days. For advertisers to really be interested advertisers must see that you've been around for more than a year and can keep up a constant stream of quality traffic.
With that said, if you can keep your traffic at 15,000 a day and targeted I think you can start looking at some good ad revenue. A couple things to do...look at similar sites and see what they are charging for advertising and price competitively. Keep up the publicity, keeping targeted traffic that advertisers will see as potential customers.
I would say start by placing adsense, make some money from that program while you use it to keep stats that you can use to potentially present to future advertisers.
Your right. I gues i was just looking for a number but i see now that theres allot more involved before advertisers notice me and want to put there ads on my site for a fixed price.
It's just that im very new to this scene and i got very, very enthousiastic when i saw all those visitors streaming into my site!
For now i will offcourse stick with Adsense. I was just thinking what the future might bring and what my options would be. And getting advertisers that pay for there ad's on my website for a fixed price seemed like a very good idea. hence my question about how many visitors i would need. But yes, i see now theres allot more involved. There are so many different sorts of advertisement systems available which is also somewhat overwhelming for me. Anyway. Im learning! And a big thanks to you all for helping me out and giving such great feedback! :-)
