Where's the breakthrough?

I just have a quick question for all of you experienced Adsense patrons...What seemed to be the "breakthrough" point for your Adsense site? Was it $5 a day, $10 a day, or $100 a day?

Do you think getting up to $10 a day is one of the major breakthroughs, and then it gets a bit easier to increase the amount you make a day on average?

Just curious...

Ever since I started my site I have seen a tremendous increase in growth with my traffic, which usually leads to more Adsense profits.

Thanks,

Christian

It all depends on what your strategic goal is. Maybe five bucks a day is OK for a student looking to make money to go to Burger King but that is no business. Initially we targeted $3,000 a month and thought that was a turning point for our company. We have grown since then and now do something in the neighborhood of $12,000 a month. Our next turning point will be at $30,000 a month.

It all depends on what your strategic goal is.

And I would guess that many of us didn't have one using AdSense when first introduced 4+ years ago.

I certainly didn't, I had tried everything to monetise my sites and nothing worked therefore my first thought was that if it paid my hosting bills and a couple of beers then I would be happy.

My first month's earnings were nearly USD 250.00 and I thought, wow, what an easy way to pay the site essentials. I let it ride on doing similar for the next few months and then introduced it to other sites when it suddenly jumped to 500-600 per month.

That's when I sat back and thought, ok, lets try sitewide and see what happens. Result 1200+, then 1700+, then 2500+, of course I cursed my stupidity for not having gone sitewide before.

Realistically the first time I set an earnings target was when I could see 3000+ was achievable and that milestone was passed a long time ago, well it seems a long time ago however, in reality, it was just 21/2 years ago.

Apart from the recent algo glitches the worst thing to have happened to me is the collapse of the US Dollar v UK Sterling, it seems I'm constantly running to stand still!

Hope that helps:-)

See, I did somewhat of the same thing. All I wanted to do was pay for my monthly hosting bill; then I wouldn't feel so bad about spending so much time on my sites! :-)

Now, after only a couple months of having Adsense, I am able to pay for hosting AND a bit more. At this point I see its true potential, and with the growth of my website; Adsense will grow with it.

And each month it DOES seem to grow a bit. Now that I am getting a check every 2-3 months, I have made my next goal of joining the "check a month" club. :-)

(i curse those of you already IN the check a month club.) jk :)

Nait... keep up the work. Your situation sounds a lot like mine... heck when I started my site I never had plans to be earning money from it, and now I'm tempted to quit school :D

I was happy with a few bucks a day... then $5, then $10, then $25... etc. :) I think $25 was really a breakthrough point because I started thinking, "hey, maybe I can really make some good money!" and of course that inspired me to do just that :)

It grew pretty steadily for me and has now seemed to level off... growth is slower but comes in spurts. either way I'm happy.

Ec-- $30,000/month and I would definately quit school and just retire :)
