Hello,

I live in a country where strict content responsabilities apply, so anything on a page we publish is our responsability and we can get sued for it.

We had a problem recently with an ad related to an evangelist kind of website, religious promotion is also forbidden here and since post filtering url by url is not an option because one appearance of an illegal ad is enough for us to get sued, we had to remove adsense entirely, thus loosing a good source of revenue for a premium site.

is there a way to filter ads by topic, for example saying we don't want any religious or political ads?

In this case, I guess Adsense is not for you. Adsense does not have topic based filtering. Also, you can only populate the filter once you have seen an ad (either onsite or in the Preview tool). At this point in time, it may already be too late. I wouldn't wanna risk getting sued for that.

Could you possibly put your web site operations offshore, e.g. the U.S. or Europe?

the website in question is a local "authority" (national TV) and cannot be moved abroad

You can disable ad serving only for your own country using IP address database and show the ads to rest of the world like US or Europe. Premium publisher can turn on or off ads based on keywords but it is not available to normal users.
