Got the OK to put drop shadows under the ads on a web page I am working on... emailed Google Support and they said it was ok to put the shadows under the ads...

If you want the link the page, message me and I will give the link to the web page.

I'm going to caution folks that this might be one of those things that must be approved on a case-by-case basis. I wouldn't run with it until G gives the okay.

Good, but how is this supposed to help? Can you let us know if your CTR goes up?

The page is very new, I don't have any stats on the web page yet... It is just something that I am trying out.

Are you doing the shadowing to suit the layout of your pages? If so then this may be why Google have aproved you to do this.

Don't try anything similar unless you have specificaly received approval from Google. As has already been mentioned, this may be approved on a case by case basis. Don't just do it because you know sowone else has been allowed.

==============================

The other items on the page have drop shadows also... so the ads fit the layout.

As has already been mentioned, this may be approved on a case by case basis.

And maybe even on an employee by employee basis.

Make sure you keep the approval message for further reference if a different employee decides differently after a 'sniff test' (for whatever reason).

The email stated that the page was looked at by "our policy specialists" and it was deemed ok. I have saved the email.

I agree that it could be an employee's decision, and that it's good to keep the email, but I don't really see how visitors would be more likely to think the ad links are navigation links. Google already allows blending of ad link unit backgrounds with web page background color for artistic synchronicity, and a drop shadow isn't exactly a huge difference. It's easy to see why it was approved.

Glad you all think it is ok for me to do it.
