Preview Tool

What does it report home to Google?

I just wondered what Google's "Preview Tool" actually does.

OK, the tool sits in the right-click menu of my browser, but is it active only when I open the "Google Adsense Preview Tool" command, or does it (silently) report stuff every time I visit a page, acting more like a toolbar than a browser?

Does anyone know?

Nope. Google AdSense Preview Tool doesn't silently call home.
