Images next to Google ads

Where do you find this on AdSense setup?

Some culinary sites I notice have small images next to the Google text links. Looking at the Google ad code, I found "examplefoodtextad" and the size was shown as 468x15. The site I looked at had four text ads vertically, each with an appropriate image to the left. I would love to find out where they found this because I sure can't find it in AdSense setup. Sorry if this question has been asked before, but I couldn't find any reference to it.

If you place images next to ads, expect an email from Google asking you to remove the images. It's not against Adsense rules to place a single image alongside the ads (your site's logo, a single-colored graphic, etc), they just can't be images that are related to the ads.

Thanks for the info. It looks like there are a number of sites out there using images next to the text links, and it looks for all the world like they belong there. Wonder if they know they're going against Google's TOS...

yeah there are thousands of webmasters putting images besides ads but trust me it's of no use. they'll eventually see a growth in their CTR but they'll be smart priced and if the placement is against google's TOS then they'll be banned one day or other. instead of putting images try to blend your ads with colors of your webpage. it'll help a lot.

Where I stand on lining up images is that anyone would have to be an idiot to play with it after Google has already spoken out against the practice and cracked down on sites doing it.

I know of one high-quality site, a really nice tool, that was banned after lining up images in exactly this way. It's possible they were self-clicking I suppose, but this was the only potential violation of the TOS I ever saw.

If in doubt shoot an email off to adsense support.
