Fraudulent clicks? How do you check?

With Google not mentioning where the abuse is...how do you know?

Just wondering if Google asks you to check your logs for fraudulent activity what do you look for?

How can you tell if there was suspicious activity on your server? If Google will not tell you IPs or any other data what are webmasters to do? Is there something I'm missing?

I don't really know what to look at if this occurs...

I guess there are no answers to this question. I thought there would be something to look for on a server to track down the abuse for AdSense.

RobbieD: I offered to send Google my logs, since of course there's no way for me to know who clicked on which Google ads when. They said it wasn't necessary at that time, and that they understand that sometimes "fraudulent clicking" or whatever is beyond the webmaster's control, and that they'd keep me posted if it happened again.

I guess you could look and see if one IP hit an unusual number of pages, or the same page over and over again, but only Google could tell you if that's the IP that they suspected of fraud. :-(

exactly! the least the google could do is: to send the IP addresses from which alledged fraudulant clicking took place!

but now they (Google AdSense) behave like Spanish Inquisition and right away start burning innnocent b~tches, sorry, witches... (= us, publishers who of course).

it is stupid, evil and immoral that we publishers have to worry about our competition or malevolent readers who could dump us from AdSense just by clicking 1000 times on the same link on our site. I repeat for the 100th time: Google should introduce technical solution so that we pubilshers can sleep in tranquility (clicks automatically shoudl not be counted, etc etc)

yes, Google has yet a long way to go, or it will be obliterated by Y! and MSN sooner or later...

From what I understand after chatting to one of those programmer types, it would be quite easy to write a script that would automatically go off and perform fraudulent clicks on a site, getting them booted off Adsense.

exactly! that is why a technical solution from Google should be in place that would make it impossible. Otherwise Google is sponsoring criminals and punishing us, honest publishers who just want to have some fun with crating of content.

Do not forget the biggest victimers are those advertisers who are the "power source" of this program.
