how dangerous is it?

How dangerous is it to builds text ads that are similar to the adsense ads that one already has? I want to make on some pages my own text ads, at the same position where I have adsense ads in other pages. Is it enough to have a different font and displaying the ad titles in a different way.

Read the TOS. I think I remember that other contextual links ads were not allowed on pages where you already have adsense code, but I may wrong...

I thought you were not allowed to place textual ads that are similar to the Google ads, on pages where the Google Ads are placed.

In your case, there's no Google Ad on that page, so then there shouldn't be a problem.

I may be wrong.

Multiple ad units may be displayed on each Web site page, but no ad unit shall contain any advertisement in common with any other ad unit. Serving two or more identical ads on a single page constitutes double-serving, which Google does not support.

However, if it's not an ad, but LOOKs like an ad, you are okay.

About doubleserving, I mailed Google about it a few weeks ago and this was there response: We are currently testing a feature that will allow publishers to
place multiple instances of the ad code on a page without double-serving.

This isn't a double-serving issue--that applies only to having two sets of AdSense ads on the same page.

Google only prohibits similar ads from appearing on the same page as AdSense ads. If they are on a different page, so long as you don't put a phony "Ads by Google" I don't think you have a problem.

In my case, I had existing ads on some pages on my site when I signed up for AdSense, and for design reasons I made the AdSense ads appear similar (though not identical). Most people would want to do something similar, I think.

If you want to be really careful, email Google with the URLs for a sample page of each.

I want to add my own text ad on a page where I am already serving AdSense ads. Obviously, I would want there to be some consistency in the look of the ads (as would everyone). I wont put any phony texts liking my ad to Google so I guess I should be fine.

What I do is make my article links look like Google ads, that way I can add the Google ads below or next to it.

But if you have ads that you want to look like Google ads, that is breaking the TOS.

If the ads are on the SAME page as AdSense ads, then they DO need to appear to be different.

How different? Open to interpretation, so again, email Google with a URL and get an OK before doing this on a bunch of pages.

All of this is very ambigius. I understand that I can't put other content targeted ads, but the ones I want to put will just be static text ads that will apear on every page.

I'll just make them look different, I don't want to bother with email Google and gettign their aproval.

Its weird cause I saw a site serving adsense but it didnt say ads by Google, it said something in the lines of sponsored links or something. Could it be because they have some kind of special arangement with google due to the sie of their site?

YOu should be fine Hugene. I do this with Amazon and Google has no problem.
