You open up a blog at Blogger.
You get free hosting for your blog.
And now, instead of there being ads at the top of the page, YOU get to place your own Adsense ads and make money.
Presumably, Google now automatically aproves Adsense for a Blogger blog.
My point is that adsense in Blogs can be a good thing and that conversions are there from personal experience. Not trying to compare adsense to affiliate programs. Although personally adsense has worked better for me.

I guess the only real proof is in the pudding. It will no doubt vary from sector to sector.

To fight that Google needs AdSense and needs it pretty much everywhere. Basically, they are pigy-back riding as many independenat publishers as possible, and with that startegy, and the size of the net, they could build a network large enough to bring in revenues of the size of Yahoo.
But for that they need Blogger and all they can get.
Thats why they are moving Adsense in blogger.
Google made a name by not being a real portal, and if they become one they will lose too much credibility. Further, the portal market is over saturated.
All this just makes me want to eat chocolate. Hmmm. What should I eat? How about Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. Wonder how much they paid GOOG for that ;)
99% of this will be mis-placed ads on crap content. Since they need content, why don't they go about acquiring it in a different way?
Not all blogs are crap content. I just linked to a blog that's packed with news and other interesting reports for readers who are interested in a certain Italian city. AdSense ads for hotels, holiday rentals, walking tours, etc. in that city might do quite well on the site. If I were an advertiser, I'd be more comfortable having my ads on that blog than on a scraper site, gmail, or DomainPark.
My own guess is that Google will eventually offer more product extensions instead of limiting contextual advertisers to all or nothing. For example, they might offer:
- Run-of-network site selection (what they've got now) for advertisers who want the cheapest possible traffic;
- A more selective network of hand-vetted publishers, possibly organized by category, for advertisers who are willing to pay more for quality leads;
- An "AdMedia" variation for mainstream advertisers who would prefer not to have their ads running on e-commerce, affiliate, and other non-editorial sites.
Such variants would be more expensive for the advertisers, which means they'd be more profitable for Google and for publishers.
Google's content network is a first-generation product, and it'll be interesting to see how it evolves over the next year or two.
Mediabot is a LOT slower.
I noticed this, too...seems to have gotten worse as of last week, around when Google started offering Adsense to Blogger users...
I can smell the fraud from here. Google is spinning around the toilet bowl quickly.

Google already ran Text Ads on all the free hosted blogs. Unfortunately, the free blogs were often not the high-quality content blogs or the blogs attracting the most traffic. Those blogs generally would move off blogspot and onto their own server. Some would even move off of blogger completely. With this move, they:
How this benefits Advertisers
Advertiser's ads were already being run on blogspot sites anyway, so this can only improve advertisers results. The quality of the AdSense advertising should go up if you think about it since alot of the low-traffic, low-value blogs will drop off the radar now. We can benefit even in the case of "bad neighborhoods". Think about it. If the entreprenuerial blogger decides to start clicking links, just subtract the blog title from your keywords. You drop off the bad neighborhoods, but your less knowledgeable competitor doesn't. Your cost per acquisition goes down while his goes up.
In short, this is good news for everyone.
However if you can get some good traffic on your blog I think its a great way to earn a few dollars on the side - I know its been a worthwhile venture for me.
I'd also add that the comments above about this move from Google decreasing the quality of content may be true for some blogs but as someone who runs a number of blogs on highly targeted topics I'd want to say that there are some quality blogs out there. There are some great blogs out there using Adsene - do a search on Google for bloggers using adsense and you'll find some good ones.
I'd also say that there are some terrible quality non-blog sites out there also that use Adsense. I'm not sure this will really change too much.
