First post and question ...
I browsed a site with that many adsense units
different sizes but neverthe less six.
Is'nt it a breach of rules?
Or has it changed?

Why not ask AdSense Support?

First post and question

Welcome! My most important advice - ignore the mutual admiration cliques here. You were correct to post a relevant question about Adsense in the relevant forum. I wish I could answer this question, but I'm also learning.

Welcome to WW

It could be a combination of referral untits and ad units you could be seeing.

Did all the ads say ' Ads by Gooogle' or did some also say .. 'Referral ads by Google'

They do look the same... ;-)

from Google AdSense Program Policies
[google.com...]

Ad Placement
Up to three ad units may be displayed on each page.
A maximum of two Google AdSense for search boxes may be placed on a page.
Up to three link units may also be placed on each page.
Up to three referral units may be displayed on a page, in addition to the ad units, search boxes, and link units specified above.

So yes it could conform with the policy. Very tacky, but allowed.
