Hello guys, first of all I want to excuse my english ... I am really pissed by Smart Pricing that hitted my ackount so bad, and all small publishers here in WebmasterWorld.
I agree that site what does not make "favour" to advertisers should earn little, but hey I am going to the internet cafe in my town and 50% of peeps there are browsing youtube others playing WOW, these users are from 14 to 18 years old (I hope they don't click on the ads) they does not have credit cards even. I am not saying that these users are dumb but I am seeing really serious business sites advertising in youtube.
Infact youtube is google brand and they never smartprice himself, they even starting a new direct video advertisement (1000 advert views - 20 usd), I know videos making 10, 20k or even more per day. Pretty expensive isn't it? I just want to know where is the smart thing here?, why youtube users are smarter than mine, I already know the answer what kind of users i have ... but this is not the place where I promote how good my site is (the site is not in english) :).
So I think they actually earn from this, If we all get banned and all advertisers are shared betwean youtube and search results, google probably will loose large percent from market but all the thing with "sharing revenue" is going to .... nowhere :). this is just to "complete te circle" I just pray that google will never buy myspace and AFF (adult friend finder) so in this moment google will say - we don't need small publishers we already had more than 50% of worldwide traffic.

Google doesn't "smartprice" CPM ads on YouTube or the AdSense network. With site-targeted CPM ads, advertisers know where their ads will run, and they decide how much they're willing to pay.

I am glad your sites are not affected by smart pricing.

Yeah, YouTube is popular in internet cafes. But YouTube is also popular on a listserv I'm on (actually on all the lstservs that I'm on) where the average income is in the low 6 figure range. YouTube appeals to a lot of people with money as well as those that don't have so much.

Instead of worrying about whether other sites are smart priced, you should be concerned with your own site.

Actually, not all small publishers here at WebmasterWorld are hit with smartpricing. It just depends on your site. I have averaged better than 20 cents per click for all the 9 months my site has been a part of the adsense network. Sure, I get clicks that pay only a few cents, but I also get ones that pay between 50c and a dollar too - sometimes even more. The average is more than 20 cents, and I am OK with that.

Yeah I know what you talking about, I had similar stats before web 2.0 obsessed me and I get this as a gift from google, so from my personal experience if u have 3 pages page1.html 2 and 3 and if page1.html gets tons of traffic and others not you get big chance to be smart priced , and ajax is exactly that (you refresh index.php without leaving it)... like putting adsense on a flash page.
So now my "eggs are out from adsense basket" just because I accidentally broke them ...
There is pretty good alternatives out there helping me pay taxes
