Is adding a script to track impression and clicks from google ads against the rules?

I've always been afraid to add such thing.

What I am asking is if I can use asRep or clickaider. Or will I get banned?

AsRep claims their software is compliant with the TOS. On their home page they also claim that "Google agreed that such a tracking does not violate the AdSense TOS."

Aside from the claims, that script has been around for 3 years so if there was a problem, it probably would have surfaced by now.

Google expects you to monitor your website and report any suspicious activity. I don't see any other way to do that without this sort of script. Web logs alone aren't enough.

Does it stilll work?
I thought all the tracker scripts stopped working when Google took away the status bar display :(

They still work, but they no longer report the advertizer's URL of the clicked ad as those scripts had taken this information from the status bar.

I used a tracking script for awhile, but in the end I didn't see that much value. I don't think Google cares either way, and using such a script may actually make clicks from your site look more abnormal than sites without the script.

In the end, I removed the script because it started killing performance on my high-traffic site.
