Do We Get Paid on AdSense AdLinks Clicks?

After all of my questions and researching, I have decided that for me, having a horizontal text link bar at the beginning of the article, and a regular horizontal ad bar after each article works best for my design, and it looks more professional.

I have two questions for you all:

1. Do you make a revenue when users click the text link, but not one of the advertisments within the ads that are given?

2. I know that one of the warnings given by experienced Adsense users it to not use too many ad banners because it will dilute the CPC that you make from each click. If I have just one regular ad bar, and one text link bar, this won't happen, correct? Since the page will display the highest paying ads in the regular ad bar, and then display them again after a text link is clicked. Is this how it works.

Thank you for all of your tips (from present and past posts) as they have all helped a lot! Just from the tweaking I have done in the last couple of days, my ads are WAY more targeted to my content AND the Adsense ads are being clicked more often.

Cheerful Trails,

Christian

Hi Christian,

The answer to question 1 is no, you don't get paid for the initial click. You only get paid when a visitor clicks on an ad on the resulting page. For details, see:

The answer to number 2 is that your guess is as good as anybody's. I happen to agree with you but others will say differently.

Yeah, well, take everything you read with a grain of salt because what doesn't work for some works gangbusters for others.

On all pages I have a left hand column with Adlinks on top (30% of my adsense income) and a skyscraper right below it, which is another 30%. Across my site are either 1 or 2 leaderboards per page in various places that contribute another 40% of my income.

My scheme works best for me because all the ads are actually content for a site of my type.

Other schemes work best for other sites.

YMMV

P.S. Take into account who makes those claims of what works best and how much income they make. Like many others in this forum, I live 100% off my website, and AdSense alone contributes many $,$$$s a month to my bottom line. I'm not messing around with a $20/month site for beer money and idle speculation on "what works best", this is a serious business/career for me and I'm in this for the long haul.

I appreciate everyone's comments, and I will definately do some testing, and start to see what works for me. It is definately worth a try to see how the Ad blocks work!

Thanks again,

Christian
