I'm not complaining about AdSense, my overall traffic is way down today so far by at least 50%, in fact, my metrics are nowhere as near a weekend day it's that slow.
Checked the SERPs to make sure I hadn't been blown out, everything looks normal.
Holidays, more natural disasters, what else?
It's a bit early to tell (it isn't even 8 a.m. Google time)
It's not too early for me to tell, 16 hours of my day are gone already and overall traffic is way down. As I said, I'm not complaining about AdSense, I'm saying all my sites' metrics across the board are at a much lower than usual level.
Even though it is holiday for many there are still a substantial amount of people at work, the world doesn't stop just because a few go on their holidays.
I didn't know about the Canadian holiday and there doesn't seem to be any others of major significance...just a strangely quiet day for me then?
Friday afternoon is rapidly becoming a part of the weekend in much of the U.S., though thankfully the federal government still pretends to be open for business, enabling its employees to surf their heads off.
TribalFusion even went so far as to send an email to its publishers a week or two ago warning that sales would be light in August.
In other words ... chill.
Being a musher, and loving the cold, I HATE the heat. All of my dogs are just sleeping in the shade. They all look dead. LOL (just kidding)
A quick search found that quite a few states are doing this, including Missouri, Iowa, Oklahoma, Virginia, North & South Carolina, Louisiana, Tennessee and Alabama, to name a few. There are probably others.
Meanwhile, Canadians are celebrating Civic Holiday, and the Ontario Provincial Police estimate that "About one million cars are likely to hit the road in Southern Ontario alone this holiday weekend."
So there are a few reasons why there might be a lower volume of internet traffic this weekend.
This is the slowest summer I can remember online for me and today was a cemetery. All of my search rankings that were good are still very good, so there isn't much I can do but wait it out and keep typing.
Time for beer...
Here's a link with a picture of me (not) debugging the computer:

Even though visitor numbers appeared to be down plus my DOS attack, at the end of it Friday had a reasonable day's earnings.
Saturday saw my highest Saturday earnings of the year, well into triple digits, and then came Sunday with my second lowest clicks day of the year only just beating New Year's Day by a very small margin.
Bah, summer holidays and heatwaves, who needs 'em? :-)
