Triple AdSense blocks?

Is that legit?

I haven't really kept up to date with the whole 'can we or can't we' discussion concerning double serving AdSense blocks on one page, but I've just been asked for a link request from a particular site that I see is triple serving ads including one block that specifically asks visitors to click on their sponsors.

I checked out Jenstar's wrap up of the rules here [webmasterworld.com], but even the mention of double serving there suggested it would be ok, say, only at the top and bottom of a lengthy page. This crowd have 3 of them plastered all over the top of the page (and while this site must be pretty popular, I don't think they're that big a publisher).

I don't want to rehash an old subject here but have I missed a major update of the terms recently?

Some publishers are beta testing multiple ad units per page, so this could have been what you saw. As far as the rules go, Google only allows a single ad unit on a page. AdSense disabled the ability for most publishers to display more than one ad unit per page [webmasterworld.com] a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks Jenstar. That must be it [beta-testing] if others have reported that second and third blocks simply display blank. Nice work if you can get it...

"beta testing"? So that means we could be getting multiple adsense units in one page soon?

Possibly. But just because it is being tested, doesn't mean it will be unleashed on all publishers ;)
