approximately 70 bucks in first month of getting google adsense, Also the first month of my site. Is it OK, or average, or very bad? I was fortunate to face the digg effect once.

OK I'd say its very good! How many other people can say that they made so much in their first month of having both the website AND adsense?

I shudder to think what your subsequent earnings will be!

Really though I have seen postings from people who have had adsense for a whole year and have yet to make their first $100!

So you're doing a lot better than you know!

It sure beats the heck out of my $ 2.73 I made on my THIRD month.
Good going! Keep plugging! KF

So how are you getting traffic if it's the first month of your website? From my experience free SE traffic takes longer to acquire so you must be getting your clicks someplace else?

If you are looking for repeat traffic don't be surprised if the CTR declines but that is an impressive start for a brand new site.

Adsense started out looking as if it would grow quite nicely for me then ad blindness crept in from my repeat visitors.

Here i am all dissapointed and everything...
Thinking this is not as good as I wanted. But seriously if anyone wants any proof I can post a screenshot of my adsense earnings. The truth is I have spent a great great deal of time optimizing it and making sure it gets the traffic I wanted it to get. I will point out some of the things I did. Remind you this is also my first time dealing with adsense altogether, I just did a hell of a lot of reasearch. And my site is about computer security which I am preety good at.

1) It's a blog (wordpress) so I optimized with SEO plugins ie,
FeedBurner Feedsmith, SEO title tags, Simpletags, Ultimate Tag Warriar, Technorati rank.

2) I got digged, which is a huge huge huge boost 29k hits on one day, though I didn't make alot of money on that day but it did propogate a lot of traffic on days after that.

3) I am active on reddit (something like digg)

4) Stumbleupon traffic is my second highest traffic, it helps because stumbleupon user also refers other to my site.

5) Active on Google Groups (alt.whatever) which gets easily under the google search engine radar.

6) Submitted my site on free web submission dot com. (this is not an advertisement for that site)

7) Active on security related forums, with having my site's' (I just added another site yesterday) on my account signature, which gets picked up by google search bot and brings in traffic from the forum.

8) Actively update my blog with new contents, I have a recond of posting 28 articles on one day in my blog, this is very important that search engine has something to crunch on. Also the contents needs to be of high standard, In the long run I will probably post one content a day but the first few months are important to get in traffic IMO.

9) Actively promote my site to other high traffic blog owners who also gets promoted on my site. After several requests on several blog one of my article got posted on the frontpage of one of the leading sites on computer security just today, which propogated, on a single day five other blogs also linking my site in their blogs, just todays (july 26).

10) I followed this forum (and other like it) for the last three weeks reading posts about things that I am curious about before asking simple questions. Because it's faster to search for it than waiting to get responses.

Hopefully one day it will be $70 per day.

Cheers

ps, just to add a note google search engine traffic is my third highest traffic and increasing everyday.

Unfortunatly traffic from Digg and related sites have a very low click rate. Blogs in general often have a low click rate.

If some one told you Adense was the quick way to easy, fast, big money, they were not telling you the truth.

It takes time and work to build from scratch.

No problem. If you bring in

"between 100,000 and 200,000 unique visitors"

daily as they do, you'll be able to sell your own ad space as they do, and you'll make a lot more than $70 per month.

However on a cutesy/funny/faddish thing like that, I wonder how long they will keep up that level of traffic.
