The more improvements and the more readers, pages and Google ads I add to my daily news site the more my earnings go down.

I appreciate Google Ads and need the income. I've been with them for years and never have I cheated our violated their TOS. We've never gotten a warning email from them either.

Any suggestions?

I'd like to put my website address here and let some of you look at it and make suggestions but I believe that's against forum rules.

I've tried more ads. It actually earn less that just one ad per page. When you use two or three ads, your eCPM goes way down, so you wind up with LESS earnings than if you just have one ad in the right spot.

This may be because people are quite likely to click away if your website is ugly or unappealing, or doesn't have the information they need. And when they click away, they often click on the Adsense.

So it leaves you with a dilemma, do you develop a decent website which will attract plenty of visitors, or do you build something plain and sparse that will get a higher CTR?

A decent web site can always find other ways to generate revenues and crappy sites end up smart priced if they lead to "get me outta here" clicks. If you can do a great site, stick with it. Ugly sites are a dime a dozen.
