I asked this in Adwords and received little response..Ok No Response ;)

"What would all you Advertisors think of a "Lock in/Lock" out bidding tool .
The idea is we can lock in a whole website and or just a page and at the same time locking out any competitors.

Where for example you'd pay a set monthly rate to own all the ad space on a particular website and or just a certain page on a website ..

not only do you get all the eyballs..but maybe just as important .. you lock out your competitors to those eyeballs /traffic

As a Publisher I am interested in it as a way to stabilize revenues .. I could sell all my ad space to one company and not need to guess/worry about revenues ..for at least that month ..

As a Advertisors you would also benefit from knowing.. at least on that campaign what your ad outlay will be ..
"

So Publishers... what would YOU think of a bidding tool like this ..you would of course have final say when Companies are bidding..you could reject based on the bid and or based on the Company..

Might not work too well for most sites, unless you have very few pageviews per visitor. If one company gets all the eyeballs, it can get boring very fast. CTR would fall, and with it the ROI and of course the satisfaction of the advertiser.

Also, if you have a site that deals with red widgets and green widgets and blue widgets, you basically need an advertiser who caters all of these widgets.

I'd say lock out the middle man if that's your wish. Lock out Google and save me money.

Zett an option would be for advertisors to lock in just certain pages..wouldnt have to lock in the entire site..

Keepin mind this isnt just about CTR and revenues..this is also for Branding ..

If as an advertior you sell red widgets and publisher A has one of the better Red Widget pages on the net ..and or maybe always seems to rank well for red widgets ..wouldnt you like to "lock in" that page?

and as far as the publisher is concerned CTR is meaningless because thye are being paid on monthly showing ..not per click

again the Publsher has the right to accept or refuse the "offer" for placement on that page ..and or run of site

It seems to work already on television when one advertiser decides to sponsor a program and then it is broadcast commercial free.

personally I hate seeing CTR rates high one day and low the next .. income high one day ..low the next ..it would be nice to hook up with just a few advertisors at a set Monthly fee and have a bit more stability in earnings.

It's the same as going out and hooking up Advertisors on your own..but for a fee Google handles all the paperwork all the tracking and all the headaches..( I assume would be for most of us).... I have enough to do without also handling the advertisors .

This might be part of a solution for earnings "stability"

I can't see this working on my site for all the reasons already stated. I think viewers of my site get real benefit from the varied Google ads displayed. Sometimes I see just one advertiser in a block that can take 4 text ads, I don't like that. If the same ad was shown over and over again, wouldn't the veiwer get to ignore it?

But then again, I certainly have my price as far as real estate is concerned on my pages. If the price was right I'd go for it, but I think the price would be high.

But you don't see it very often, and there's probably a reason for that.

As Receptional said, you don't need Google for that 'feature', nor does the advertiser, it's called direct advertising, if you are keen on using Google's services, just add an "Advertise Here" link, and send them to Google Checkout.

Ditto the other comments. It's a fine idea if you have a motivated advertiser, but it doesn't sound like AdSense.

I like that idea. In fact I sent a similar suggestion to AdSense about a week ago. If enough people like the idea, and suggest it to Google, they might get around to adding it as a feature in about a year or so.

Hobbs it isnt the same ..what I am talking about locks out all other advertisors.. One advertisor could lock in a run of site or just a page ..no PSA's,no filler ads etc..

If the publisher accepts the "offer"

dauction,
I would give Google or anyone up to 30% if they send me a direct advertiser, but if advertisers want exclusive on your site, there is nothing to prevent them from contacting you directly, but good luck on your suggestion all the same.

Just an Idea..

I have to say though.. I see no possiblilty of any advertisors seeking exclusivity on any site ...unless they would see it in front of them as an option which the tool would offer..then that might peak their interest IMO

anyway ..thanks all

dauction,

Interesetd to know why you don't simply contact the site ownner direct if you want some exclusive and exclusive ads? My email address is "obliterated cos of breaking the rules"! I have enough volume to simplify any problem of dealing with individual advertisers.
