CPM Ads Are KILLING ME

Whenever I get a CPM ad (the big ads that hog the entire ad unit and often do not display relevant content) my CPC goes down the toilet! This is really pissing me off. Other than using smaller ad units, I wish there was a way to prevent these stupid CPM ads from serving on my site!

My situation is exactly the opposite - I pray for EVERY ad on my page to be CPM!

Did you see the reports breaking down page eCPM by type of ad served? May be it's the case of "your results may vary", but *my* CPM stuff is at least 4 times more profitable than "contextual" ads which nobody ever clicks on.

Email support and tell them you want to opt out.

If things are working as Google says they do, you do not want to prevent CPM ads from displaying on your site.

See [google.com...]

marsradio,

make sure to check the detailed earnings report that separated contextual and site-targeted ads.

On my sites, the eCPM (i.e. the "value") for site-targeted ads is usually 3-4 times the eCPM for contextual ads.

I like CPM on one of my sites the majority of content is down to the forums, I have one main ad unit under the navbar, and in the last few weeks have had 2 companies run CPM campaigns on the site, and in the past few days judging by the figures they seam to be increasing their bids :)

After some quick calculations im getting a 20% increase in income as a result of this, if it continues will provide me with some funds to run a few competitions for the site.

Though on some of my other sites, I hate CPM's and have added the urls to my filter
