My forum has premium member area (some are paid but most free members). Now google AS crawler will access these pages using a username and password.

I'm going to add the authentication. Let us see if it can make any difference

Google can not access anything behind a login. If you are updating your scripts to allow gbot in and not the general (non paying) public, then you are decidely in violation of G adsense guidelines and also in violation of g's search engine guidelines.

Brett, did you actually follow the link posted?

I noticed it a few days ago, there's a new site authentication feature:
[google.com...]

Add new authentication

Use this section to allow the AdSense crawler to access pages that are behind a login. Our crawler will access these pages only to determine content for ad targeting purposes and will fully comply with Google's privacy policy

How to get started
1. Enter an authentication rule

Specify an authentication URL and a set of parameters that will allow Google's web crawlers to access your content.
2. Verify your site ownership using Google Webmaster Tools

We will direct you to Google Webmaster Tools, where you can verify that you own the site by uploading a file to it or changing the META tag of a file.
3. View your improved ad targeting

When your authentication rule is verified, you should see better ad targeting on your pages. You can check the status of your authentication rules at any time.

it's interesting

would be nice if they don't show it in the serps, wonder if that will actually be the case

looks a little like a rope in to make you use as many G tools as possible

I don't think they will show results in the SERPs, it's only for the AdSense MediaBot

I think it started a few days ago, well, that was when I first noticed it. But as nobody was talking about it here I thought it must be old news... :)

I expected this update to fuel a bigger discussion than this one though.
