section targeting = totally useless

I'm sure most of you are aware of section targeting: [google.com...]

This has been a joke for me. It does absolutely nothing, my adsense still consistently displays ads related to the ignored areas.

Has anyone else found section targeting to be completely worthless?

Yup, can take upto a month to be effective and the bot may ignore the tags at its discretion.

If you have a good, clean site ( as per TOS), write to adSense support and they will help.

In the past , I have written to adSense support and they have fixed the problem in 3 days...

I think it can take a LONG time to really get well targeted ads - last year, the ads on most of my sites were way off base, but this year they're much much better. I wouldn't have thought it'd take a slap year for Google to figure out how to serve decent ads on a variety of subjects to my variety of sites, but that's how it worked out.

Yes it takes time and googlebot may still ignore it.

The weight of text you are trying to target versus the non targeted text should have some effect in my opinion. I am just experimenting with this idea..will let you know.
