AdSense Ad on Ad's Own Site

I was just perusing through a travel site and saw an AdSense ad for that site. I guess this means that all AdWords advertisers who run AdSense on their sites should add their sites to their Competitive Ad Filter. This shouldn't be necessary. Google should not be running an ad for a domain on that domain's site. They are potentially driving up an advertiser's costs only to benefit themselves (Google).

Well, I tend to agree with that, but even if they claimed to not do it, I think it would give me more peace of mind having it in the filter anyway, just to be safe.

One would hope that an advertiser running adsense on their own site(s) would be smart enough to know that they should filter their own ads... one would think. :)
